Havanese

The National dog of Cuba.  Once called the Havana Silk Dog, or the Spanish Silk Poodle, the coat is like raw silk floss, but extremely light and soft.  Playful and alert.  The Havanese is both trainable and intelligent, with a sweet disposition.  I cannot emphasize enough about their terrific disposition and eagerness to please!  A small and sturdy dog of immense charm.  Slightly longer than tall, with a plumed tail that is carried over its rump.  The Havanese tends to be a little more playful than decorative, making the perfect addition for any size family.  The Havanese have a variety of coat color.  The purebred Havanese is a member of the Bichon family which includes the Bichon Frise, Coton de Tulear, Bolognese, Maltese, and Bolonka.  Their family legacy is believed to go back as far as 23 B.C.

Olde english pocket beagle

We are proud to be associated with the Olde English Pocket Beagle Registry, and one of the few kennels that carry 100% authentic Olde English Pocket Beagles.  Containing all the charms of it’s larger cousins, the Pocket Beagle is as sturdy as it is cute.  Good bone structure is essential with this small breed, and the quality of breed we have is top notch.  They were named so because hunters needed a Beagle small enough to go where the larger ones couldn’t.  In fact, they were so small they carried them in open saddlebags on the horses.  We are very concerned with reestablishing this rare breed.  Most people don’t realize how few genuine Olde English Pocket Beagles are in the United States.  Our kennel carries over ten percent of the genuine breed in the entire country.  The Olde English Pocket Beagle is a very old breed - dating back to the 1800’s in Great Britain.  Again, our Olde English Pocket Beagles are not cross-bred with any other breed.

Japanese Chin

The Japanese Chin first appeared in Japan around the year 732 as gifts from the rulers of Korea.  The breed is considered one of the most cat-like of the dog breeds in attitude: alert, intelligent, and often independent, and it uses its paws to wash its face.  A companion dog, loving and loyal.  They are a quiet breed, with a much deeper bark than you’d expect.  A spaniel by heritage, they are affectionate and gentle.  The Chin has a mind of their own, and likes to be the center of attention.  This breed is more obedient than most toy breeds, and great dogs for learning tricks.  With the Chin being a gentile dog by nature, you may need to remind children that it’s not a “rough-n-tumble” puppy.  A terrific watchdog that is less than ten pounds.  They are moderately active indoors and will do okay without a yard.  Daily walks and an opportunity to play in the open yard is enjoyed, but do not require a great deal of exercise.  Also, they are somewhat sensitive to temperature extremes.  They have a white spot in the middle of their foreheads known as Buddha’s Thumbprint - an ancient spot that was kissed to bring luck.  In Japan, this is still the dog of Japanese royalty.  The Japanese Chin is a pleasure to have at your side.

Boston Terrier

An American breed that developed in Boston by crossing English Bulldogs and Terriers.  Due to its very elegant look and good manners, the Boston Terrier is known as the “American gentleman among dogs”.  Bostons are energetic, friendly and bright.  The muzzle is short and square, nose is black.  The coat is very short and smooth with a white muzzle band, white blaze between the eyes and white forechest being a required feature of the breed.  Loyal and playful, the Boston loves to be loved.  In particular, the Boston is sensitive to the owners tone of voice.  They are an intelligent breed and almost look forward to being trained and led.  As they get older, they bark only when they feel the need to get your attention immediately.  Children and non-canine pets are great around Bostons due to the “gentleman” character.  Their loyalty is immense, especially in males.  An uncanny loyalty means uncanny guardianship.  Intruders beware!  A keen sense of body language with their owners will let them know when someone is welcome and when someone isn’t.  This is a very loving breed.

Brussels Griffon

Don’t let their highly expressive faces fool you ... this is an extremely intelligent breed.  They are a smaller breed than the Boston Terrier, and the AKC remarks that they are a toy dog.  Named for the capital of Belgium, their roots can be traced to the wire coated stable dogs of many, many years ago - the Griffons d’Ecurie.  Very sturdy built, eventually weighing between 6 and 11 pounds.  There is still debate about their lineage, but the Affenpinscher, Pug, and English Toy Spaniel were chief contributors.  Their high intelligence, loving personality, and adaptability make for a curious and wonderful companion.  The breed is terribly sensitive to their owners voice, and will not train or respond with anything other than a gentle handler and praise.  They are shy around strangers, but will let you know when someone is at the door.  Obedience training is easily mastered, but they may train you if there is not enough variety.  They depend on their owners love and attention as much as their food and water.

Cavalier King Charles

So named because it was the children’s pet in the household of King Charles the First, of the United Kingdom.  The breed is highly affectionate, patient and eager to please.  Great with children and other dogs, the breed presumes all other dogs to be equally friendly.  Their extremely social nature requires almost constant companionship from humans or other dogs, and are not suited to spend long periods on their own.  Largest of the toy breed, they fit right in with any family and existing pets.  One note about the breed ... The extreme social nature and unassuming kindness of this breed leads it to believe everyone and everything is a friend, even other dogs they’ve never met.  They will bark at strangers and other animals, just like any breed would, but they are assume that they are not aggressive.  It is best not to have this breed around aggressive animals, as it will approach the others unassumingly.

Yorkshire Terrier

The Yorkshire Terrier originated from Yorkshire, the North of England.  Yorkshire Terriers are alert, vivacious, playful, charming and clever.  They don’t need a lot of exercise but do like to run and play.  Despite its little size, the Yorkshire Terrier is fearless, and always eager for challenges. They defend their territory and are excellent watchdogs.  Weight should not exceed seven pounds and life span is about twelve to fifteen years.  A terrific pet that is known worldwide.
